Isolation
Valves can be a part of the complete system allowing refractometers to be isolated
from an active pipeline. In the Monitor Divert System (MDS), the positions
of these isolation valves are closely monitored to verify the refractometers
are in service. Refractometer bypass pipelines are not recommended for safe
operation.
